The audio files for this level are partially created with great effort and worth to dld. They underline the character of the level and should be dlded. If you do not want to dld these wavs please read the instructions given on my website for changing wav names in the audio folder! If you do not change or add some wav names you will hear nothing when an audio file is triggered. Nevertheless it does not influence the level's stability - but it "sounds" badder.

Some of the audio file names already exist inside the audio folder. To prevent them from overwriting copy them to a different location for later use - or delete them. In fact these files are not usable as I think. The audio files I deleted from the TRLE audio folder are:

006.wav
014.wav
027.wav
047.wav
050.wav
066.wav
078.wav
089.wav
103.wav
104.wav

These are the audio files recommended for dld for The Underworld level:

- 004.wav, zipped, 220 kb

- 009.wav, zipped, 536 kb

- 010.wav, zipped, 781 kb

- 011.wav, zipped, 148 kb

- 017.wav, zipped, 484 kb

- 070.wav, zipped, 1,023 mb

- 095.wav, zipped, 127 kb

- 101.wav, zipped, 1,697 mb

- 103.wav, zipped, 125 kb

Common info about the zip-files content and installation directory:

x_wavinfo.txt (approx. 241 bytes)

Installation directory:

1 X x.wav (X,X kb/mb) (C:\...\trle\audio)

3. GAME SETUP & USAGE

Game setup

The game should be played with a screen res. of 1024 X 768 pixels, 16 bit, high colour. Check inside game setup volumetric FX, bilinear filtering and bump mapping. The game should be played in darkened rooms! Set your monitor's brightness to 64% and 93% contrast!

Usage

This is the first level of the 12 Gates Of The Duat game. For editing the wad file use trwest. If you like to view the project use tr2prj, a project ripper for all available TR levels or dld the project at The Archives. I really reccomend to dld all wavs!

Note: TR2prj viewer expects the wad files inside the same folder to which you are planning to save extracted level contents.

4. (Very small) walkthrough

Compared to the old version the level has experienced quite a metamorphosis. When rebuilding the level I had the old TR I levels in mind. You have a great columns hall with several small areas to explore. Allways follow the signs on the walls (scorpion textures etc.). There is one main sign: The Ankh, the Egyptian symbol of eternal life. It appears all over the level and should push your level progress. Be alarmed when cameras are triggered, they give essential hints how to solve a puzzle or reach a secret area! I advise to save ingame very often. Some secrets shall NEVER be reached again once passed or missed an area! You won't find the normally expected secrets in this level. I found it annoying of finding a skull or a medpack triggered as a secret. You'll have to find out by yourselves what's behind this strategy. If you have difficulties to end the level send me an e-mail and you'll receive a detailed desription of this level. I hope you enjoy this level and all that may come hereafter!

That's all folks!

Have fun playing my levels,

Andreas
