The original Tomb Raider Level Editor (the TRLE) was released by Core in 2000. The TRLE was the Level Editor Core used to make The Last Revelation. In early 2008, Paolone released a new Tomb Raider Level Editor, the Next Generation Level Editor (the NGLE). To power this new Editor, Paolone also developed the next generation game engine, the TRNG. The NGLE is the editor while the TRNG is the engine that powers it. TRNG 1.2.2.6 is stable and it is recommended you build using this version of the TRNG.
The TRNG Mk4 full setup is compatible with Windows 7 and contains version 1.2.2.6. It is a self-extractor with an Installer program which is able to scan your trle installation to discover which files require updating. It is advisable to perform at least one full setup before installing other updates because you could have necessary files missing in your existing setup. The TRNG installer will correct any problems or suggest how to fix them. Important Note! If you are new to the Level Editor, it might be better to download the Official Tomb Raider Level Editor and build the tutorial level following the official manual to master the basics before attempting to learn the TRNG. It is not advisable to download any of these tools unless you know what you are doing and you know how to use them. Download the official manual by Gary LaRochelle as a pdf here (3.81Mb).
Please note that Skribblerz.com is not responsible for your computer. If you download and use any of these tools or resources you do so at your own risk.
When installing the Tomb Raider Level Editor, select Custom Install and uncheck the DirectX7 box. If you try to install DirectX7, Windows will chuck out a serious error message due to trying to install an old version of Direct X (176Mb).
The TRNG is a tested product, but is still used at a Level Builder's own risk. This site only offers updates to TRNG 1.2.2.7, which is included in the Mk4 installer. For more information on the TRNG, please refer to the NGLE Manual (13.3Mb).
